Cedar park, TexasMy husband and I have been with uhc and ubh since 2007. Since that time only one claim has not been a time consuming nightmare. The problems range from they have no idea why the claim has not been paid to things as serious as arguing with my doctor about the actual dosage of a medication that has been prescribed. Other serious issues include their website or their call in center for providers is completely incorrect.
I have seen three physicians that were on their website or whose name and office number were given to me by an actual uhc employee that turned out to no longer be with their company. Other issues include demands for detailed medical records that they do not need to pay a claim and are not allowed under HIPPA Guidelines and authorizing surgeries and refusing to pay for it when the claim is filed. In addition their prescription drug vendor is beyond belief. The vendor claims uhc will not cover something and uhc claims the problem is with the vendor. It is almost a full time job just to deal with your insurance.
The very first problem I had with uhc, or ubh is that they listed that they covered a specific medical condition however they have no in network provider. When I called they repeatedly said 'you are free to go to an out of network provider, they used the term 'privilege'. I repeatedly said I do not want to pay out of network fees and I have a right to be provided an in network provider. I argued for literally days on the phone. I finally ended up with a Patient Care Rep. that is an RN and she argued for me and finally got me a referral and they company agreed that I could see this doctor and they would reimburse me as if he were in network. There is much more please reply!
